Fence rules in Scott Township
Scott Township is in Allegheny County.
Permit
Scott Township's zoning ordinance requires a Zoning Permit from the Zoning Officer for the erection of all fencing or walls, before work starts. No fee is stated in the ordinance.
Height limits
Residential fences may be erected only in a side or rear yard and may not exceed 6 feet. The part of a residential fence between 4 and 6 feet high may not be more than 50 percent solid. Barbed wire and electrified fences are not permitted. Taller fences need a variance. This is the ordinance dated November 13, 2014; the township also posts a newer revision, so confirm the current text.
Pool barrier
Pennsylvania pool barrier rules call for a barrier at least 48 inches high, measured on the side facing away from the pool, with a self-closing, self-latching gate that swings away from the pool. If the latch release is on the pool side it must be at least 54 inches off the ground. Municipalities can adopt their own changes, so confirm with yours. Read our pool fence guide.
