Fence rules in North Huntingdon
North Huntingdon is in Westmoreland County.
Permit
North Huntingdon's published fence rules cover height and placement, but the township's list of work that needs a permit does not mention fences and no fence fee is stated. Confirm with the township before you build.
Height limits
Front yards: 4 feet at most, and a fence may not obstruct vehicular vision. Side and rear yards: 6 feet 6 inches at most. Corner lots count as two front yards, so the corner front yard limit is 48 inches. No electric or barbed wire fence is permitted in residential areas. A fence in a right-of-way or easement is at the owner's risk.
Pool barrier
Pennsylvania pool barrier rules call for a barrier at least 48 inches high, measured on the side facing away from the pool, with a self-closing, self-latching gate that swings away from the pool. If the latch release is on the pool side it must be at least 54 inches off the ground. Municipalities can adopt their own changes, so confirm with yours. Read our pool fence guide.
