Fence rules in Elizabeth
Elizabeth is in Allegheny County.
Permit
Elizabeth Township requires a Zoning Permit when you add an accessory structure, and the township lists fences among them. A site plan is required so the township can confirm setbacks, and a fence in a floodplain needs a separate review and permit. Call Code Enforcement at 412-751-2880, option 2. If your address is in Elizabeth Borough instead, it has its own office.
Height limits
We could not read the height limits online. Call Elizabeth Township before you design the fence.
Pool barrier
Pennsylvania pool barrier rules call for a barrier at least 48 inches high, measured on the side facing away from the pool, with a self-closing, self-latching gate that swings away from the pool. If the latch release is on the pool side it must be at least 54 inches off the ground. Municipalities can adopt their own changes, so confirm with yours. Read our pool fence guide.
