Fence rules in Baldwin

Baldwin is in Allegheny County.

Permit

Baldwin Borough requires a fence permit, and the fee is $50. A lot survey showing the proposed fence location must be submitted with the application. Call the borough at 412-882-9600.

Height limits

Front yard fences cannot exceed 38 inches and must be open-type (picket, wrought iron, split rail). Rear and side yard fences may be up to 72 inches and may be solid. Posts and supports go on the interior side, and no fence is permitted in any right-of-way or easement.

Pool barrier

Pennsylvania pool barrier rules call for a barrier at least 48 inches high, measured on the side facing away from the pool, with a self-closing, self-latching gate that swings away from the pool. If the latch release is on the pool side it must be at least 54 inches off the ground. Municipalities can adopt their own changes, so confirm with yours. Read our pool fence guide.
